The district administration on Thursday honoured 19-year-old Raavi Gulzar of Ikoloha village in Khanna sub-division under Pride of Punjab program for
bringing social and infrastructural changes in her village by running movement and assisting local panchayat.
Participating in a virtual program, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Amit Kumar Panchal handed over appreciation certificate to Raavi Gulzar for ensuring 100-percent Covid vaccination, Covid testing, enrolling all eligibles for old-age pension in the village, installing solar street lights, cleaning of village ponds and other social works by working in tandem with village sarpanch and local panchayat.
He lauded the efforts of Raavi for working shoulder to shoulder with the village panchayat in the reformative changes in her village.
Additional Deputy Commissioner said the state government is giving much attention to channelize the unbounded energy of the youths in a positive direction.
Panchal said that Pride of Punjab programme was launched as a partnership between the Department of Youth Services & Sports and YuWaah – a joint initiative of UNICEF, other UN agencies, civil society organisations and the private sector.
He added that the youths have an unbounded potential which can be helpful in the development of Punjab.
Elated Raavi thanked the Punjab government and district administration and said that this honour would further motivate her in carrying out her works.
Raavi is among 27 youths selected under the program. She is doing Diploma in ETT and has also represented Punjab in Karate game under Khelo India games.
