SERAI LASHKARI KHAN TO BE DEVELOPED AS WORLD CLASS WEDDING DESTINATION

D.p.ro  office ldh): Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday announced that Serai Lashkari Khan, one of historical place linked with the Mughal era, will be developed as World Class wedding destination by Punjab Government in its effort to boost tourism in the state.
During his visit in Serai on Friday, Sidhu told that a total of Rs 20 crore will be spent on the complete revamping of the Serai. Apart from the renovation like Mughal period’s buildings, a restaurant, landscaping, lighting, tented accommodation, other basic facilities like toilets, parking include in this entire project, he claimed. 
The minister got surprised while inspecting the Serai and called it a living example of Punjab's rich heritage which has remained neglected during the regime of previous Akali-BJP Government. 
He disclosed the Punjab Government has already hired two consultants companies including Knight Frank and Abha Narain Lambah Associates and they are also visiting these places. 
"After one and a half year, when the entire renovation and work of other amenities will be completed, it will be one of best center of attraction and people will be stunned from its beautification", added Sidhu.
The minister also said that the approach road to the Serai is needed to be widened for which the land will be acquired so that visitors can have easy access to this destination from GT Road (Ludhiana-Delhi National Highway) and asked concern SDM to send a detailed report. 
He said that there are ample opportunities in the tourism sector in the state and its development will ultimately help in making Punjab wealthiest. 
Tourism and Cultural Affairs secretary Vikas Partap Singh and Director Shivdular Singh Dhillon, Khanna SDM Sandeep Singh Garha were also present on the occasion. 
It is pertinent to mention here that Serai Lashkari Khan near Doraha was built in 1667AD by a Mughal General as a resting place for his army along with GT road.
